Heather Boyd is the owner and founder of Doggie Detailing. Established in 2011, Heather’s passion for Pet Grooming started when she acquired her first Standard Poodle Puppy, a red male named Rogan.
Shall we say, the rest is history?
As many of you may know, this business started in my basement, grooming dogs for friends and family as a hobby. The business quickly grew into a larger operation taking over an upstairs space in my home, with new plumbing and major electrical upgrades to accommodate dryers etc.
My first Employee was hired in 2013 and by November 2014 I achieved my first 2 Grooming Certifications with International Professional Groomers Inc as a Certified Salon Professional, and Certified Professional Groomer.
As demand for Grooming services grew, so did the business.
July 1st, 2016, I took a massive leap of faith and moved into a newly renovated Grooming Space inside Global Pet Foods Trenton. At this time, I also hired 2 more Groomers.
After 1 year at Global Pet Foods, Doggie Detailing had already outgrown the space. On July 1st of 2017, Doggie Detailing moved to its current location at 391 Dundas St West where it currently employs 12 Employees.
My passion for animals started at a young age. I spent a lot of time at my Uncle’s dairy farm in Manitoba. I have very fond memories of playing with the barn kittens, helping milk the cows, feeding the calves, riding horses and running around with the dirty farm dogs. I loved every minute of it!
My favorite breeds to groom are of course, Standard Poodles, and anything curly haired! I also have a passion for Sporting Breeds and hand stripping.
You can learn more about my Competitive Grooming accomplishments in the Grooming Competition tab above.
In my spare time (haha) I love to spend time with my family and older kids and my two little grandkids. I have also recently entered the world of Conformation dog shows and have showed and groomed my female standard poodle Navi to her Grand Canadian Championship. We hope to breed her in the near future so stay tuned for puppy updates! (Follow IvyStone Poodles on Facebook!)
I live in Trenton with my very supportive Husband of 20 years, Terry, and our 13 year old Daughter, Clover. We have 3 Poodles, Dove, Navi and Otis, that run the show at our house. I also have 3 beautiful adult children, Cameron, Hannah and Caitlin, and two precious Grandbabies, Oliver and Norah.
Vanessa holds down the fort at Doggie Detailing as the administrative assistant, a role she’s rocked for nearly four years.
She’s easy-going, hard-working, and passionate about pups—especially the little ones.
From scheduling appointments to keeping things organized behind the scenes, Vanessa helps make sure everything runs smoothly so the team can focus on making dogs look and feel their best.
I started grooming in 2009 in Edmonton Alberta. I then moved to Ontario in 2011 and continued with my grooming career.
What I love most about grooming is gaining the trust of dogs, being allowed to be creative, the constant learning, and being able to spend my day with dogs.

I love grooming all breeds but have a soft spot for poodles since competing last year. I competed in my first ever grooming competition in May 2019. I took home a first place in Novice Poodle and 3rd in the group. I went on to compete in two more competitions taking a 3rd place and another 1st place. I cannot wait for the competitions to start up again!
In my spare time I take care of my family, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 snakes. I love doing anything that allows me to be creative, from baking, crafting, making dog treats, & bows for dogs.
What I love about working at Doggie Detailing is that everyone is super supportive of each other. That support builds the best atmosphere to work in. I have worked in a couple different salons and Doggie Detailing has the most supportive group of women I have ever worked with.

A passionate competitor, Priscilla has been active in grooming contests since the mid-1980s, earning multiple “Best Groomed Dog in Show” titles and representing Canada as a member of Groom Team Canada in 2006.
Known for her precision, calm demeanor, and deep care for animals, she thrives on the ever-changing nature of grooming — and treasures the feeling of being part of a true work family. When she’s not at the grooming table, Priscilla enjoys collecting plants, rocks, and, of course, poodles.

I started grooming late in life after being in the hairdressing/nail technology industry most of my life. I grew up in my mum’s beauty salon and eventually ended up teaching for many years. With scissors in one hand and a heart full of love for our four-legged friends, grooming sessions are more than just a haircut—they’re an experience.
I believe in forming a bond with each furry client, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and at ease during their time at Doggie Detailing. I love all dogs be they big or small but have an affection for the “underdogs”—the fatties, the farters, the old, the fragile and the not so well cared for.
It definitely has been the most rewarding career for me and plus I get to spend my days with the best group of caring women who I am blessed to call my friends! It doesn’t get any better than that.

What I love most about grooming is that everyday and every dog is different, the use of my creativity, the reward of the finished dog and of course the relationships built with dogs and their owners. I have definitely developed a liking to grooming sporting breeds particularly the English Cocker Spaniels.
I am astounded at the talent shown in poodle grooming and strive to one day master them.
I have completed the grooming course at St. Lawrence College which was part of my Vet Assistant Diploma. Then after several years of teaching myself I decided to complete certifications through the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists and have currently completed Bather Technician, Pet Stylist, Sporting and Non Sporting Certifications.
I have been married for 13 years and we have 4 children 2 boys and 2 girls ranging from 17 to 7 years old. I am a pretty social person and greatly enjoy the company of good friends and family and would walk in the woods or on the beach everyday if I could.
My favorite thing about working at Doggie Detailing is working along side a wonderful group of women who all have a tremendous amount of knowledge and talent!!

My favorite thing about grooming dogs is honestly just being able to form a trusting, long-lasting relationship with the dog and the owners. Seeing regular dogs on your schedule and knowing each of their different personalities.
Being at Doggie Detailing has definitely opened my eyes to a love of Poodles, only being there for a few months before getting my own Standard Ellie. I certainly love trying new styles and colors on her I am also prone to adore seeing pugs walk in the shop as I have pugs also.
I have worked at numerous shops over the years in between having my two daughters. I worked for Community Living Quinte West running a doggie daycare & grooming business that employed individuals with disabilities. l have also worked at Trenton Pet Hospital after returning to work from having my oldest daughter, and then after the birth of my youngest daughter I was a Groomer at Hair of the Dog and then Salty Dog Pet Parlour before returning to Trenton and joining the Doggie Detailing Team.
I graduated from the Veterinary Assistant and Groomer program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. Being a part of the team at Doggie Detailing makes your day just so much more enjoyable because it allows for the collaboration of different skills and perspectives from each of us to achieve the same goal to make sure each pet leaves the shop beautiful and happy!
I seriously love when a customer is willing to give me free range in regards to their pets clip, style/color, etc. Having the opportunity to try something new and exciting for their pet and owner and then seeing the reaction at pick up is definitely by far one of my favorite parts of being a Groomer.
My favorite thing about grooming dogs is seeing and working with so many different breeds. I love the challenge of guessing what’s in a mix breed based on their looks and characteristics.

Working with dogs tickles my brain with fascination. Working/herding breeds have always amazed me with their trainability and hyper focus but my favorite breed to groom is schnauzers. Their clean cut look and dramatic faces are like sculpted art.
I started my training back in 2015 as a bather at pet smart in Kingston and from there rose to the position of groomer.
What I love most about working at doggy detailing is the opportunity to learn from award-winning groomers and better my breed standard grooms.
When I’m not grooming I am enjoying my home life, tending to my farm and family of four (plus two fur friends). Hunting, fishing and loving every day.
Groomer From bather to award-winning groomer, my journey into dog grooming has been anything but typical, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Grooming isn’t just a job for me—it’s a passion that pulled me back in.
I joined Doggie Detailing four years ago, starting at the front desk and it didn’t take long before I was drawn back to hands-on work with pups. I began as a bather, specializing in de-sheds and smooth grooms, and with the incredible mentorship of Heather Boyd and the Doggie Detailing team, I transitioned into a full groomer focused on haircuts.
In October 2024, I stepped into the competitive grooming ring for the first time—and proudly walked away with 2nd place in the First Timers class.
There’s nothing like watching a dog prance out the door, feeling as good as they look. Seeing the joy on our clients’ faces—and their pups’ tails wagging—is the most rewarding part of what I do.
Being part of a team as supportive and skilled as Doggie Detailing has pushed me to grow faster and stronger than I ever thought possible.
While I don’t have a dog of my own yet (just two wonderfully lazy kitties at home), it just means I get to spoil your fur babies with all my energy and love!

I have been a lifelong animal lover – having dogs for my whole life, as well as being around, riding and showing horses for over half of my life. The part I love most about working at Doggie Detailing is the great teachers that I have around me. Everyone is willing to step in to assist in any capacity, and to provide guidance or insight. I have learned so much from working here. I cannot wait to meet you and your dog!
I started working at doggie detailing in 2022, and haven’t looked back since. I was inspired to get into the industry because I love dogs of all kinds and have ever since I was a child. I knew I wanted to make dogs look and feel their best.

My favorite thing about grooming dogs is watching how happy they are after their grooming appointment. Every dog has a different personality, and I love that no two days are the same. I love grooming all of the de sheds and smooth coated breeds.
Before working at doggie detailing I worked at Pet Value and then I worked at a nursing home here in Trenton. I love working at doggie detailing because I learn new things everyday. Everyone around me is so talented.
We have an amazing group of groomers who support each other and share laughs everyday! I have two dogs and a rabbit at home who keep me on my toes! I love spending time outdoors, and when I’m not with animals, you’ll usually find me hanging out with friends or enjoying time with my partner, Devin. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friends!

Alyssa is a dedicated animal lover who brings warmth, energy, and enthusiasm to the Doggie Detailing team. Alyssa has had a lifelong passion for animals, especially dogs. She’s the proud owner of a playful Husky pup named Auggie who’s 2 years old.
At home, Alyssa is surrounded by a small animal kingdom, including two other family dogs, two cats, two guinea pigs, and nine chickens—so it’s safe to say she’s no stranger to caring for animals of all kinds!
When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find Alyssa enjoying the outdoors, going for a run, or lacing up her skates for a game of hockey in the winter. Her love for animals, active lifestyle, and kind-hearted nature make her a perfect fit for the Doggie Detailing family.
